Comedy icons Ai-Ai delas Alas and Eugene Domingo are undeniably successful actresses. However, both of them admit that they are unlucky when it comes to their love lives in “Tapatan Ni Tunying” this Thursday (Jan. 2).
Ai-Ai’s relationships have been widely publicized through the years. Her two failed marriages made headlines, including her controversial 29-day marriage with businessman Jed Salang in early 2013.
“At my age, I want someone who will stay at my side until I grow old. It was just painful that it didn’t last,” Ai-Ai says referring to her marriage to Jed.
The 49-year old comedy queen admits that growing old alone is one of her biggest fears, but claims that she already learned from her experience. She says she realized the deeper importance of marriage, and promised that she will never jump into it without thinking thoroughly and listening to her friends’ and loved ones’ advice.
“Marriage is not a solution to save an already failing relationship,” she says.
Meanwhile, not many people know that 42-year-old Eugene has never been in a serious relationship. For her, it was not a priority when she was busy building her career as a theater, television, and film actress.
“Every year, I list down my goals in life. For instance, I want to make movies for film festival, to do a play… Then I noticed that I never wrote about my love life,” Eugene shares.
Eugene was on a roll in 2013, completing six movies including the prequel of the popular film “Kimmy Dora,” which has been showcased in the recent Metro Manila Film Festival. This year, will Eugene take a step back to finally focus on her love life?
“I achieved and even surpassed my goals as an actress. Of course, I am also thinking that the end of the day, after all the success in my career, I will still want to have one. I hope it's not too late,” she says.
Ai-Ai and Eugene also comically talk about their struggles and triumphs as successful comediennes in this episode.
