Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey De Leon or commonly known as a TVJ trio, the pioneer and the mainstay hosts of the longest running noontime variety show 'Eat Bulaga' announced on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 their departure to TAPE Inc., the producer of their TV show.
Many got curious why the episode aired on free TV this Wednesday was a replay of 'Eat Bulaga.' Until TVJ appeared live online announcing the said news.
With a heavy heart, TVJ via the official YouTube channel of 'Eat Bulaga' explained their decision of leaving their producer which served as their home for 44 years or 4 decades.
According to Tito Sotto who started the TVJ's farewell speech, they went to the studio for work, but they were not allowed by the management to go on air. “Pumasok po kami lahat ngayong araw para makapagtrabaho pero hindi po kami pinayagang umere ng management ng live,” Tito said.
Joey De Leon on the other hand recalled and thanked the three TV stations namely RPN-9, ABS-CBN 2, and GMA-7 who became the home of 'Eat Bulaga' for almost 4 decades. He shared, “Kung matatandaan niyo po, July 30 ng 1979 nang simulan namin ang Eat Bulaga! 44 years na po ito. Kaya naman lubos ang aming pasasalamat sa lahat ng aming mga naging tahanan. Unang-una po sa RPN9 for nine years, ang ABS-CBN for six years, at ang GMA for 28 years. Dalawampu’t-walong taon. Thank you very much.”
Meanwhile Vic Sotto expressed his gratitude to the advertisers and sponsors who supported them since 1979. “Nagpapasalamat din kami sa lahat ng advertisers mula 1979 na nagmahal, nagtiwala, at sumuporta sa amin,” he expressed.

TVJ also thanked Mr. Tony Tuviera, the former President and CEO of TAPE Inc. They also thanked dabarkads, the loyal viewers and supporters of 'Eat Bulaga.'
“Ganoon din sa inyo, mga Dabarkads. Sa mga manonood, sa inyong pagmamahal, sa programang naging bahagi ng inyong tanghalian. Lubos din ang aming pasasalamat kay Mr. Tony Tuviera, sa pagkakaibigan at pagiging bahagi ng aming pamilya. At higit sa lahat sa Panginoong Diyos, na kahit kailan hindi niya kami pinabayaan,” Tito expressed in his speech.
“Karangalan namin na kami ay nakapaghatid ng tuwa at saya mula Batanes hanggang Jolo at naging bahagi ng buhay ninyo. Maraming maraming salamat sa inyong lahat. Hanggang sa muli,” Vic concluded.
After this shocking announcement of TVJ, viewers and netizens shared their mixed reactions in social media. Some speculated that they will transfer in a new TV network. Others commented that 'Eat Bulaga' may be reformatted into a new show format. Some said, they will make the show more incline to a Gen Z oriented program.
