Known as an action star of the 1980s and 1990s who mostly played villain roles, veteran actor John Regala passed away this Saturday morning, June 3, 2023. He was 58 years old.
Victoria Scherrer, the wife of John confirmed the sad news. "He died at 6:28 a.m. of cardiac arrest due to liver and kidney complications at the New Era General Hospital," she said. Furthermore, the wife detailed that John has been under critical care for three weeks at the Quezon City hospital until he expired.
Meanwhile, John's family is still finalizing wake arrangements for the actor at St. Peter Chapels in Tandang Sora, Quezon City.
John Paul Guido Boucher Scherrer in real life, John is the son of former character actor Mel Francisco and former actress Ruby Regala. His career started being a member of the GMA-7's TV show "That's Entertainment" in 1980s. Afterwards, he transitioned to being an action star in various action films mostly playing antagonist roles.
Some of John's remarkable films are "Bagets Gang," "Wanted Pamilya Banal," "Boy Kristiano," "Isa-Isahin ko Kayo," "Primitivo Ebok Ala: Kalaban Mortal ni Baby Ama," "Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story," "Lipa Arandia Massacre: Lord, Deliver Us from Evil," and "The Vizconde Massacre: God Help Us."
John also starred in various TV series from different TV networks. Some of them are "Ang Panday," "Pieta," "Joaquin Bordado," "Valiente," "Ina, Kapatid, Anak," "Juan Dela Cruz," and "FPJ's Ang Probinsyano."
